VERY exciting stuff next week. Do you love the photos I took of the Roller Derby girls? Then come to the Evening of Indulgence in High River. Stop by my booth. I will have my studio set-up and will be taking a FREE photo of every lady. If you love your image, you can purchase it online a couple of weeks after the show!

My mom came to visit me this week. I’m pretty sure she came to visit her granddaughter and I just happen to live in the same house as her. I’ve been wanting to capture a few images of her for awhile now, but it seems when we do get a chance to see each other, we are too busy to take the time for a photo session. This visit we made the time. Here are a few of my favourites….

When you spend all of your time photographing families and events, it’s easy to sometimes overlook doing your own photos. I do snap away and grab the candid moments in our lives, but we never sit in front of a camera purposely to do a portrait.
This morning, armed with the excuse that I needed to do a trial run with the new studio lights, we headed out to the old WWII RCAF flying training station hangar that we keep our AgCat crop dusting plane in. There are several old hangars here. They are massive. You drive in and imagine what it would have been like back in WWII with the planes and the air force officers occupying every square inch.
Jane turns one-year-old in a few days and I wanted to do this family photo to mark the occasion. She has her own little biplane (complete with the same aircraft number as her daddy’s) and flight jacket so we were ready to go!

When Anna sent me an email saying she wanted to do a session with me, I fired one back saying “when and where.” I met Anna this summer when I photographed her in Lloydminster. She’s now sporting a shorter ‘do, is looking fabulous (as always) and wanted to get some more photographs done.
If you are like most of Alberta and Saskatchewan this winter, then it’s brown and fairly yucky looking outside. We hummed an hawed over where to shoot. Both of us had the awesome idea to approach the root: community emporium. This is an awesome space in Lloydminster and I encourage you to visit. I’m thinking of renting it this summer for some sessions…..more on that later though.
In the meantime – I wanted to post a few fun images of Anna. I love working with her – she’s fun, laughing and beautiful to photograph.

Most of you know I come from a ranching family. These days I only seem to make it to one bull sale a year….my aunt and uncle’s sale in Lloydminster – the Hill 70 Quantock Barn Burning Bull Sale (their first sale barn burnt down several years ago….only a day after the inaugural sale was held) thus the name.
I thought I would pass along some images of my little girl at her first bull sale. The day ended with her in the hospital with the flu – so I’m sure her memories won’t be great. My sister took care of her for me while I photographed buyers.

Things I love about Davina and J.R. …….they have a beautiful toddler, Sawyer – they make great neighbours and friends and they are an awesome couple.
I met both through my husband and over the last year and a bit – we’ve spent quite a bit of time together. We’ve spent hours in each other’s homes with our babies and dogs enjoying suppers, visits and laughs.
I was thrilled when they asked me to photograph their wedding in the Mayan Riviera. Over 50 of their friends and family joined them for a week of sun, cocktails and great memories.
Enjoy…. (slideshow below)
